| Jewels is the founder of Vertical Hold Adventure Outings. She enjoys teaching climbers of all levels and abilities, while finding personal satisfaction in helping students grow as climbers, as well as supporting them in reaching their personal goals. Jewels particularly loves assisting gym climbers in their transition to the great outdoors. Her strong personal skills and breadth of mountaineering and climbing experience are a real asset on any back-country or mountain adventure outing. Born near Mt. Rainier in Washington State, Jewels was introduced to the outdoors at an early age. Growing up near the Cascades, she has a love and fascination for hiking and climbing mountainous terrain. Her personal climbing skills range from bouldering and sport climbing to traditional multi-pitch climbing. In addition to technical climbing, she also enjoys hiking and multi-day backpacking trips. She includes ascents of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Shasta and Mt. Whitney in her list of accomplishments. Her love for the wilderness has also led Jewels to start her own wilderness guide service in 1999.
She specializes in self-sufficiency for women and holding space for spiritual growth in nature.
