
Youth Coach (San Marcos)
Vertical Hold is passionate about helping our community achieve their climbing goals! We are now hiring a Coach to instruct our youth programs. We are seeking an individual who is comfortable managing and connecting with climbers of all ages, promoting enthusiasm, and helping to guide them to reach their full potential.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Experienced in bouldering and top rope (lead climbing is a plus).
Provides excellent customer service
Good understanding of climbing techniques such as footwork, body positioning, route reading, etc.
Passion for working with kids at a variety of ability levels and learning styles.
Makes learning how to climb enjoyable and engaging.
Interested in contributing to a high quality training curriculum and program
Excited to collaborate with other coaches and staff to deliver the best overall experience for the team

Events Team (Poway)
Vertical Hold is searching for passionate and enthusiastic individuals to join our Events Team. As an Events Team Member, your primary role will be to provide an exceptional experience for our group events and parties. Tasks include leading the group in climbing, belaying, event set up and tear down
Our Ideal Candidate:
Provides excellent customer service
Displays proficiency in knowledge of top rope belaying and climbing safety practices (Must be belay certified by Vertical Hold)
Enjoys sharing the sport of climbing with others

Routesetter
Vertical Hold is searching for creative individuals who are excited by the prospect of providing amazing experiences through thoughtful climbing movement. As a Routesetter, your primary role will be to create inclusive climbing experiences that engage our whole community. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Setting routes, Route maintenance, and General upkeep of all climbing-related terrain and equipment. You are held to a high standard of creativity and quality, and are expected to work collaboratively with a like-minded team of Routesetters.
Must Haves:
A strong passion for climbing and community
Does not shy away from laborious tasks
Eager to seek and accept, as well as give, feedback in a professional manner
Demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to solve problems in an individual and team setting
2+ Years climbing experience
Willingness to travel to all three Vertical Hold locations
Nice to Haves:
Ability to forerun V6 and 5.12
Lead Climbing and Belaying Knowledge and Skills
Outdoor climbing experience
Commercial or competitive routesetting experience
Familiarity with power tools such as drills and saws
